Together but apart, like both sides of a coin

After many years of trying, I unashamedly confess to knowing very little about women.

Men and women are different and neither is better or worse than the other, obviously. Just like Fire and Water, Night and Day, Hot and Cold, both are necessary for life and both have the capacity to be good and bad.

Our Universe is made up of opposites; light and darkness, matter and anti-matter, pull and push forces and of course male and female.

It is amazing that men and women share 99.9 of common DNA (not so amazing when compared to 95% shared DNA with chimps) and yet are so intrinsically different in both thought and intention.

Differences between the sexes are so extreme it beggars belief to think that both were made in the same biological “laboratory” and with the same reproductive “chemical cocktail”.

Of course men and women  share many similarities, like for instance; morals, nurturing instinct, appreciation of arts and music, thirst for knowledge, empathy and the need to love and be loved, to name but a few. That makes it even more incredible on how men and women can be so different!

The point I’m trying to get to (not so sure now) is how difficult it seems to be, to please both sexes simultaneously. When it comes to;

TV World: Tries hard but fails miserably, ensuring a couple ( um… I refer to 2 people cohabiting, male-female, the whole point of this exercise) have to own two television sets in order to share the same living space without killing each other.

Movie World: “Sex in The City” for her, the “A Team” for him. The only couples who usually persevere to see these films together are ‘just dating’ and will do anything to impress each other.

Sports World: Gymnastics (floor exercise) for her, Cage Fighting MMA and Football for him.

Alcoholic Beverages: “Cosmopolitans” and Vodka Red-Bull for her, Cold beer for him...

...this could go on forever and ever.

If anyone out there has any idea on what makes men and women so different, please let me know. I would appreciate it. One is never too old to learn and no,I won't hold my breath.

Anyway, the following is a joke for the girls;

“The problem is that Nature gave men a brain and a penis, and only enough blood to run one at a time.”

And one for the boys;

"A woman's mind is cleaner than a man's. She changes it more often."

On a more serious note I would like to finish off with the wise words of Albert Einstein, probably the greatest thinker of the century;

“Men marry women with the hope they will never change. Women marry men with the hope they will change. Invariably they are both disappointed.”

Wow, meaningful or what?   Vive la difference!

A humble retraction

.
Following on from my previous somewhat vitriolic post, I would like to state that I DO NOT CONDONE  rowdy or violent protests against the Pope or anyone else for that matter.

In this particular case there is little need or justification!  Anyone who doesn't want to see or hear him should simply stay away. Vote with your feet!  After all  this is a democracy and if we sometimes allow suspected terrorists, despots and criminals entry, then why not the Pope?  I don't agree with discrimination of any kind.

There is also a good chance the pontiff will deliver a message of reconciliation and peace. He should. That's the very least I expect

.

When the blind follows the blind

...yes, you can kiss my ring
The country prepares for the imminent visit of a foreign head of state!  A controversial head of state.

A man of undemocratic beliefs who presides over a society shrouded in secrecy and fear of reprisal.

A man who, in his previous post, concealed crimes of sexual abuse against countless children across the globe.

A man who is still to apologise for the said heinous crimes committed by some of his ambassadors.

A man shackled to the past and imprisoned by dogma and superstition.

A man who single-handedly causes widespread misery and death with his edicts on contraception and morality.

A man so detached from his followers that he can not understand reality and what it is like to raise a family - he has no wife or children.

A man who invites into his inner circle known Holocaust deniers and other faceless fascists.

A man who encourages divisiveness and conflict by spreading homophobia and religious intolerance.

A man who controls, manipulates and brainwashes his followers as if they were his personal possessions.

A man who should serve, not be served.

No... no no, it is not Robert Mugabe ! But I can see why you would think so. The similarities are endless, I know.

I refer to the Bavarian Pope,  Herr Josef Ratzinger - aka "Head of  State - The Vatican"

And for the "privilege" of this visit, the taxpayer foots the bill, £12 million.

Rant over...I feel much better :)

Apparently it's "because I'm a guy"

.
I've been a man for most of my life, obviously, (I was a boy before that)  and I never realized that being a male explained so many aspects of my character and surroundings!
It all started a couple of years ago with Madeleine, my beloved gf, when upon commenting on how I adore kissing her silky-smooth cheeks ,she replied -'that's because you're a guy!'

Soon after that startling revelation, I remember saying I didn't like cucumber very much, in sandwiches or salad. Madeleine's reply was delivered with such sincerity that I was instantly convinced of it's merit- 'That's because you're a guy!'

What?

(I have since found out that cucumber is a favoured smell with women and is often used in deodorants, perfumes and shower gel. Yes, I admit to reading girly magazines... sometimes.)

On another occasion I was in the bedroom watching telly and heard a piercing loud shriek from the bathroom that made my heart miss a beat! Madeleine screamed.I ran to her aid as fast as I could.

'What's up love?' I asked.
'It's a huge spider...look...up there on the ceiling' stuttered Madeleine, horror etched in her face.
'Where?.. I can't see a spider'  I replied, squinting hard, trying to focus on the tiny grey blob on the ceiling.
'There!..can't you see it, it's huge...look at the legs... moving!' cried Madeleine.
'Oh...yes... I see it'  I said as I smacked the spider off the ceiling with my flip-flop.

'Madeleine, why do you scream when you see a spider?'
'Because I'm  scared of them, obviously...duh !'.
'Ok, I don't like them much either but you don't hear me scream'
'That's because you're a guy.'

So, there you have it! Philosophy in the making.

Some people say "that's how it is" others say "it's God's will" but Madeleine says "that's because............

"TIME" to stop the abuse...

Well done to Time magazine for the shocking cover of this weeks edition. It is the story of 18 year old Aisha who ran away from an abusive marriage only to be caught by her husband, brother in law and local Taliban militia.

Aisha was held down by her brother in law while her husband sliced off her nose and ears... with the approval of the local Taliban commander.

Is there any hope for the future of Afghanistan with the Taliban in place? Clearly not. These barbaric images are part of daily life, including the stoning to death of women condemned (wrongly in most cases) of adultery.

If only the 'sharia law' imposers could learn a single lesson from the Bible, I would like it to be the following : 'Let he who is free from sin cast the first stone'

Sadly, and once again archaic extremist groups are giving the great religion of Islam a bad reputation.
Meanwhile the women continue to suffer silently....again...and again

Biting the hand that feeds them...

It's a tragedy to know and hear about the so called "homegrown terrorists" in our midst. What drives these born-in-the-UK kids to enlist and hero-worship terror groups? Could they have been so displaced and wronged by our society as to resent it to death? No...I don't think so.
As with all of humanity's evils, I place the blame firmly and unequivocally with the parents of the perpetrators. The brain-washing and mis-information would need to start at a very young and impressionable age.
Not all Muslims are terrorists but nearly all terrorists are Muslim.
The parents of these misguided would-be terrorists arrived at our shores ,decades ago. Some, if not most, failed to integrate under the misconception that western values and morals were decadent and not up to their standard. Of course we all know they were wrong, but these same parents managed to influence their children with their archaic views of ancient tribal rivalry, intolerance and xenophobia.

Parents mould their children's characters.
Parents influence and shape their children's views.
Parents teach moral values and aspirations.
...and parents should teach their children not to bite the hand that feeds them.

So, a new approach is needed to try to avoid this modern-day phenomenon, from continuing to blight our lives.
The social services need to get more involved with the up-bringing of children from backgrounds likely to produce terrorism. With all the technology at our disposal, it can't be too difficult.

"abandoned abroad, and she is a british citizen..."

It´s official!! Pets have no rights. This applies to `pet loving` UK as anywhere else. I took TBone to the vet to prepare her for the flight next week. "Not So" said the vet. TBone needs another rabies shot (though there is no rabies in Madeira), a blood test to be carried out 6 MONTHS before the flight?!? otherwise its quarantine for puss in the uk :( So TBone has to stay behind and serve her time. Now we all know TBone is a very healthy cat with no bad habits, but the powers that be have decided she needs 6 months preparation before entering her place of birth, the UK.!!! How cruel is that?? The customs officers in the UK let in all kinds of human beings everyday!! people with ghastly illnesses and bits falling off , some with illegal documents, some with drugs and weapons in their possession and that´s acceptable, but poor old TBone can´t return home when she wants. I may have to take her somewhere like Somalia, on a short holiday, and then bring her into the UK as a "refugee". With a bit of luck she may be able to sign on for benefits immediately and get a fully furnished council cat-flat thrown in for good measure...And there was me thinking pets had rights?
