Thirst That Can Not Be Quenched

Have you ever wanted someone so badly that you actually feel a sensation akin to a warm nervous tremor in your stomach every time you see or think about that person?

I hope you have.

And if you have, was the feeling mutual?

I hope it was...for your sake, for I doubt there is anything more gut-wrenching and frustrating than wanting someone who doesn't feel the same way about you.

It is a hunger that can not be sated.

Oh, the ultimate mental torture that is unrequited love!

Strange how medical science, despite its numerous achievements and advances over the last century, is still incapable of providing explanations to feelings and emotions such as love, longing, desire and attraction.

I believe that eventually science will be able to explain such emotions, and possibly even find a cure for what is commonly referred to as matters of the heart. Matters of the mind would be a more appropriate description. Sadly, such a breakthrough is not likely happen soon.

I see your name everywhere, everyday, in a nondescript name tag and in the lines of my poem...

"  Bring forth the end of your eternal absence and
Embellish my existence with your sparkling presence
Light up the darkness of my Autumn days
Light up the flickering embers in my hearth
And allow my boundless affection safe passage into your heart"

Like Tears in The Rain

Last night as I lay in bed, memories of a time gone by entered my head. And then I wrote this poem:

***

Like Tears in the Rain

Back in time, when love was our bond
we'd plan trips to places neither of us had been
And we'd laugh and cry, but most of the time
we were somewhere in between

One Autumn evening, I witnessed our fall
and all our plans oozed down the drain
Sentiments that were meant to last forever
were washed away, like tears in the rain

Tears...of a convivial man

Below is a short poem I wrote last night.   It reflects my struggle in adjusting to life here in London after being away so long. A reflection of my homecoming.

What is "home"?

Presently, home is a house, like all others. A structured shelter, devoid of meaning and soul unless those I love most enter and dwell within.

And that...is not happening.

***

Tears

Tears flow gently
warm against my skin
sudden and intensely
tears from deep within

Tears flow gently
as messengers of doom
proclaiming intently
my self-imposed gloom

Tears are still flowing
Details are washed away
but memories remain sowing
tears for another day

***

And as each day passes, the more I question the wisdom of my decision.

cold and beautiful...

Her snow, cold and beautiful...
her Sweden, cold and beautiful...

her landscape, cold and beautiful...
her winter, cold and beautiful...

her Christmas, cold and beautiful...
her heart, cold and beautiful...

her eyes, cold and beautiful...
her smile, warm and beautiful...
my bed, cold and beautiful...
my tears, warm and beautiful
